The Jim Thompson Art Center presents “The Textiles of Malay Cultures” by Dr. Zulkifli Mohammad from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, who will join us to lecture on the textiles of Malay cultures.

Dr. Zulkifli Mohammad
Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad completed his PhD. on the “Artistic Creation Management of Contemporary Malay Dance Theatre” at National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2004. He has been invited to teach at many universities like UiTM, UKM and National Arts Academy in Malaysia, Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Arts, Glasgow University, Jakarta Arts Institute, Bangkok’s University of Chulalongkorn, University of Tokyo, University of Kyoto Seika and University of California, Los Angeles in the field of Arts and Cultural management, Dance Theatre, Malaysian Contemporary Theatre, Southeast Asian Film, Theatre and Textile Collection. Apart from writing and researching in the field of his academic interest, he contributes a weekly article on arts, culture and entertainment for KOSMO newspaper in Malaysia.

In the past, he has held many inspiring posts at UNIMAS in Borneo Malaysia, LINTAS Advertising Kuala Lumpur, SEAMEO-SPAFA in Bangkok, and ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. He also had a brief spell at the Scottish Ballet’s Development Department and Scottish Contemporary Gallery in Glasgow during his postgraduate period. He is now a full-time member of Cultural Centre, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
